What’s your Hobby?

Strange how this one question has followed us all our lives.

As children, we were asked this in school introductions.
As adults, we use it to start conversations.
Sometimes we even use it to quietly judge a person’s personality.

And if that wasn’t enough, the question proudly appears everywhere — from resumes to matrimony profiles.

“What’s your hobby?”

Interestingly, almost every corporate guru today emphasizes the importance of having one. And for once, they are absolutely right.

Because a hobby is not just a pastime.
It is a small escape route from the everyday rush of life.

Whether you are a school or college student, a corporate professional, an entrepreneur, or a homemaker — a hobby is something everyone deserves.

A hobby is that little corner of life where there are no targets, no deadlines, no KPIs.

Just joy.

Shiv – Parvati

It can be anything — writing, reading, painting, gardening, playing a sport, music… anything that frees your mind and calms your body and soul.

(But let’s be honest — endlessly scrolling on your phone or binge-watching a series on Netflix probably doesn’t qualify!)

Personally, I have been experimenting with a few — reading, writing, and recently, painting.

I may not be a master of any of them — in fact, I am happily a Jack of all trades.
But that’s the beauty of a hobby.

It comes from passion, not pressure.
There is no performance review, no appraisal, no “rating”.

Just the quiet satisfaction of doing something you love.

So go ahead.
Pick up that pen, brush, guitar… or even a shovel for gardening.

Your hobby might just become the most peaceful hour of your day.

And who knows — the next time someone asks “What’s your hobby?”, you might actually have a story to tell.
